Art and craft activities for a Halloween event
When planning your Halloween event, you might be thinking about some calm activities that can provide some downtime. At children’s parties, this can be a good option for straight after the party food, while they wait for the other children to finish eating. Halloween is a great theme for arts and crafts activities. And there is something for children of all ages to join in with creating. Mr Stix is an award winning children’s entertainer. And this is his guide to art and craft activities for a Halloween event.
Art and craft activities for a Halloween event
Children of different ages, will enjoy different art and craft activities. So tailor your options by the age range of your children:
- pre-school- pumpkin painting or decorating is a great option for children of this age range. But paint can be very messy, and some parents and children will not want the costume to be ruined. So make sure you have aprons handy. Or instead, you could think about pumpkin decorating with stickers and stick on features, like eyes and teeth. You can even use the mini pumpkins to be better suited to the size of the children.
- 5-8 years old- creating Halloween wooden spoon puppets can be a great option. If you have pieces cut out and bagged for individual use, this activity can be as short as just ten minutes. From witches and cats, to bats and ghosts, Halloween wooden spoon puppets can be easy to make and interesting for the children. They can even put on a puppet show at the end of the event.
- 8+ – Halloween jar painting can be a great option for children above the age of 8. They can even use Sharpie pens, or glass painting pens to reduce the mess. And this means they can decorate jam jars with a spooky scene. Then ask a responsible adult to add a tealight to the inside, and watch the spooky shadows in the dark!
